Saudi and UK Ministers discuss trade and cultural co-operation

Saudi ministers recently discussed enhancing co-operation in trade and cultural sectors with their United Kingdom (UK) counterparts on the sidelines of the GCC Ministers of Trade and Industry meeting in Muscat, Oman.

The two sides looked at ways of strengthening their trade partnership and potential areas of investment as well as topics of interest in a variety of economic divisions. These mainly focused on the industrial and mining sectors and both parties further explored ways to increase trade exchange and the development of non-oil exports.

In a separate meeting in Riyadh, that ran alongside the 45th Extended Session of The United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO World Heritage Committee, officials from both Kingdoms discussed existing cultural ties. Moreover, they examined ways to advance development of several projects in the heritage and museum fields within the framework of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in February 2022.

More recently on September 18th, Ministers of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries and the UK Minister met at the 78th United Nations (UN) General Assembly in New York.

The meeting focused on negotiations to conclude the proposed free trade agreement between the GCC countries and the UK as well as the latest developments on regional and international levels. Furthermore, it highlighted the importance of strengthening Gulf British ties to achieve heightened stability and prosperity.
